About us

Partnerships in Health strives for a human society in which all people have an equal and fair access to health, regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation or political affiliations.

Partnerships in Health - what we do

Association Partnerships in Health (PH) is registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prior to registration with the Ministry of Justice of BiH, PH acted as a country office of the Swiss non-government organization Fondation PH Suisse – Partnerships in Health.

Registration of PH as a local organization was finished in 2007, but the effective transfer occurred in January 2009, when all programmes, projects, systems, procedures and staff were transferred to the locally registered Partnerships in Health. This administrative change has not had any adverse effects on the capacity or financial portfolio of the organization. Prior to 2005, Fondation PH Suisse – Partnerships in Health, including its country office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was a part of the Project HOPE network and one of the Project HOPE’s country offices. As the name suggest, PH acts in the field of health in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region and it has close cooperation with partner institutions and organizations, with the aim to improve health services. Programs and projects are developed in cooperation with relevant partners (Ministries of Health or health institutions, according to health priorities) and are implemented according to instructions from project steering mechanisms, in order to ensure efficient implementation of project activities.

As part of ongoing activities, PH coordinates work of 22 Voluteer Counseling and Testing centers for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases across Bosnia and Herzegovina. We also coordinate the work of mobile testing units, which provide testing services to key populations in community based settings.

Partnerships in Health has established its own mobile testing unit, which has been accredited for provision of mobile testing services for HIV by the Agency for Quality and Accreditation in Health in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AKAZ) since 2018.

Excutive director of PH, Mrs. Aida Kurtović served as the Vice-Chair of the Board of the Global Fund from 2016 unitl 2018, and as the Chair of the Board of the Global Fund from 2018 until 2020.
